Professional Learning
For the last decade, Gateways Access to Jewish Education has
been providing targeted professional development to educators in Boston-area
Jewish preschools in order to boost their capacity to serve children with
diverse learning and/or developmental profiles. Professional development has
included scores of workshops and other trainings on Social Thinking (e.g.,
writing Social Stories) and hundreds of hours of individualized coaching of
directors around a variety challenges related to inclusion and differentiation.
In the last year, Gateways conducted in-depth reviews of 10 preschools in an
effort to determine the areas of growth and, in turn, how our experts could
best leverage our professional development support across the field. Also, in
the course of our work, Gateways has developed a number of resources to assist
educators and parents enable children with atypical learning needs more access
to Jewish content.
